Hello my loves, I am back with a wash day post. I have not done one of these wash day posts in a while. I decided to however do one today as I am trying to make sure that I am staying consistent with washing my hair and deep conditioning it weekly as part of the rules of the New Beginnings Hair Growth Challenge. I would like to thank everyone once again for taking part.
With this wash day I started off with a pre poo treatment I had actually stopped doing these but decided to give them a go once more. It really helps to detangle/soften your hair and makes the wash day much easier. I decided to use my VO5 Silky Experiences Shea Cashmere Conditioner. I divided my hair into 4 sections and applied a good sized amount to each section concentrating on the ends and roots and sealed with castor oil (which is a good pre poo oil for me when I am not using my Wura’s Secret Hair Growth Oil). I covered my hair with a plastic bag and on top of that I used a plastic cap and left it in my hair for 1 hour.
I then washed my hair with Beautiful Textures Tangle Taming Conditioner and proceeded to deep condition it with a mixture of ORS mayonnaise, Africa’s Best mayonnaise, Shea Moisture Shea Butter Deep Conditioner and ORS Replenishing Conditioner, some Wura’s Secret Hair Growth Oil and Castor Oil. I went to sit under my curl formers soft hood hair dryer attachment (review here) this is my favourite hair tool, for about 45 minutes.
I then combed the conditioner through my hair, I found that my hair did not have as much slip as I would have liked and I had more breakage than I would have liked. I then rinsed out the conditioner and towel dried my hair lightly. I divided my hair into four sections (I highly recommend working in sections to make things easier). I used the Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioner and Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie on each section and sealed with coconut oil.
I combed my hair with a wide tooth comb and proceeded to curl my hair with flexi rods I used only about 8 or 9 for my entire head. Thanks to the youtube video I watched by CurlDaze on the horse shoe method.
I left my hair to air dry over night. To speed up the air drying time I actually went outside my house to attend to some things for about an hour; by the time I came in by hair was completely dry but I left the flexi rods in overnight as a precaution. They were quite easy to sleep in as I did not have a lot of them on my head.
I took them down after applying some oil on my hands. I then proceeded to style the curls in a bun. I observed that although the curls were so nice when I took the flex rods out I might have separated the curls a bit too much. I was in a huge rush to take my son out.
Anyway here are the results for my curly bun.
I hope you all enjoyed my wash day post will definitely try to do loads more in the future. Please share how your wash day went and your experience with any of the products I used.
TONKABELLE, xoxo
Little children, sweet and lovely
Buds from heaven sent to earth!
Let us love them, teach them, guide them
Fill their lives with joy and mirth…
Looking up with eyes of laughter,
Holding out their tiny hands;
Bless these little ones, oh Master!
Precious children of all lands!

Your curls are really pretty and they give your bun all kinds of fluffy volume! Do you think that you'll do the horseshoe flexirod method again?
Thanks for sharing your #washdayexperience chica!

Your curls are looking nice 🙂 How long do your curls usually last?
Tonkabelle
These lasted about three days, if I use the ors moisturiser as a holding product however they could last up to a week. I might do that sometime in the future, thanks for your comment Becca, xx

You got a nice stretch with Curlformers. I have tons of them and have only used them a hand full of times but my hair is very fine and they are not very gentle!

Wow didn't know it was called the horseshoe method, looking at the video, the name makes sense. Loving the thickness of your hair. Will take points for my next curling session
