Hello my loves, apologies for the hiatus as the year is coming to an end I want to make sure I end the year on this blog with a bang which means more frequent posts till the end of the year and thereafter. I decided to do a post on the Inversion method because even though it is something I am yet to try I think it may be beneficial to the hair and promote hair growth. So let’s get started with the post.

First off, slight disclaimer if at any point during the inversion method you experience some discomfort such as feeling light headed, nauseous, dizzy, having a headache and so on please do not continue. Also if you are pregnant or on your monthly period, have low or high blood pressure, osteoporosis, recent stroke, unhealed fracture or injury, spinal injury, ear infection, heart or circulatory problems and other medical conditions not mentioned, do not attempt this method.

The Inversion method is simply the process of putting your head upside down for an amount of minutes which will in turn stimulate hair growth, you can invert your entire body i.e. in a yoga pose, head stand or you can do a slight inversion where you head alone is made to point downwards. This method works by stimulating blood circulation towards the scalp region which in turn promotes faster hair growth.

Step by Step Procedure

Take a natural oil of your choice such as olive oil, avocado oil and so on and massage it thoroughly into your scalp. You may also choose to warm it slightly however this step is optional. To heat up the oil, place the oil bottle in a bowl filled with hot water for about 1 or 2 minutes till the oil is very warm. Please note that you do not have to be too heavy handed when applying the oil.

You can then stand by the bathroom or kitchen sink as if you are washing your hair in it or an easier alternative will be for you to sit in a comfortable couch and lower you head as though you were painting your toe nails. Another alternative (which I tried myself after writing this post) is lying on your back on your bed so that your head hangs over the side of the bed. This process of lowering your head should be done for 4 minutes only. Also ensure that your head maintains a steady angle when you do this method.

After you are done inverting leave the oil on your hair for at least two hours, or you can sleep with the oil in your hair overnight. If you choose to, you can leave your hair as is (especially if your hair is of the kinky variety), if you have straighter hair however you can rinse the oil out as well as shampoo or cowash it out.

Repeat this method for 7 consecutive days and then rest for 3 weeks before another inversion session for 7 days. If you do not wait for 3 weeks, your body will get used to the extra blood flow and the method might no longer be effective. It may also lead to medical conditions if the method is over utilized.

PS. You can use this method if you have on a longer term protective style such as braids or twists; as long as you have access to your scalp you can apply the oil to your scalp lightly and invert.

If you are wearing a weave or you do not enjoy oiling your scalp, you can invert alone without necessarily applying the oil especially where it is difficult to reach your scalp.

It is also important that you measure your hair before and after you are done with the weekly inversion to ensure that your hair is actually growing. Hair is expected to grow up to an inch within a week of doing this, however results may vary.

Thank you my loves.

Have you ever tried the inversion method for hair growth if you did what were your results? Or is this a hair growth method you would consider trying out? If you have any questions regarding this method or any others please do feel free to ask in the comment section below. If you also do attempt this method after reading this post, do share your experience as well.

I might just try it out to see if this seemingly abnormal method for hair growth actually works, it sounds simple enough and I will share my results on this blog.

Do watch this space my precious lovelies.

TONKABELLE, xoxo
